Schwesig on fuel discounts: It comes too late, but it is important

For Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig, the planned fuel discount comes too late.

The people in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania particularly suffered from the high gasoline prices because many commuters rely on cars.

“I am pleased that the federal government has rethought. The fuel discount is important for people,” said Schwesig.

The fuel discount should be decided by the Bundestag and Bundesrat on Friday.

The planned introduction of a fuel price cap is also correct, said Schwesig.

“The price cap promises long-term financial relief for drivers and more stability at the gas pumps.”

At the same time, she spoke out in favor of introducing an excess profits tax in order to make oil companies more responsible for posting record profits.
