Shopee parent company Sea joins hands with OpenAI to host hackathon in Taiwan to cultivate AI talents

Sea, the parent company of Shopee Shopping, has joined hands with OpenAI to host a hackathon series in the Asia-Pacific region, and today the Taiwan competition will be held in Taipei. When interviewed, Li Yuchen, general manager of Shopee Shopping Taiwan and the Philippines, pointed out that Sea and OpenAI have launched a number of AI cooperation, including tools for small and medium-sized sellers, Shopee VIP users can use ChatGPT, etc. Talent cultivation is one of the focuses of the cooperation, and they hope to provide Taiwanese developers with Token and talent cultivation resources through the hackathon.

Sea held a hackathon in Taiwan today, attracting more than 200 groups of 3 to 4 people each to sign up, and eventually more than 100 developers, students and start-up team members were selected to enter the finals. Jon Sugihara, technical executive director of OpenAI Asia Pacific, pointed out that OpenAI hopes to make AI more accessible to more people. Sea has also established a digital ecosystem in the Taiwan market. OpenAI is helping to introduce technology into more of Sea's products and services, bringing ChatGPT for Business to Shopee sellers to help small and medium-sized enterprises improve content creation, customer service and daily operations.

Li Yuchen also said that Sea hopes to cultivate talents through activities and strengthen the introduction of AI into the Shopee shopping platform, including integrating AI directly into platform tools so that sellers can use it directly to assist with more difficult tasks, including product description optimization, AI customer service assistance, etc. Sea also promotes ChatGPT for Business to small and medium-sized enterprise sellers to continue to strengthen Shopee's AI ecosystem.

This hackathon gathered more than a hundred developers, students and start-up team members. Li Yuchen explained that the hackathon mainly provides opportunities in three aspects, including obtaining token resources, participating in exchanges, and expressing creativity. He also hopes that developers will use AI to realize more applications that were not possible in the past.
