Request for up to 211 years and 9 months in prison for Seçil Erzan

Following the reversal decision of the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice, the retrial of Seçil Erzan, who was sentenced to 102 years and 4 months in prison, continued. In the opinion announced during the hearing, it was requested that Erzan be sentenced to up to 211 years and 9 months in prison.

The decision given against Seçil Erzan, who was sentenced to 102 years and 4 months in prison and a judicial fine of 753 thousand 880 liras, for allegedly defrauding more than 30 people, including well-known football players Arda Turan, Fernando Muslera, Emre Belözoğlu and Selçuk İnan, of millions of liras, by saying that it was a reliable fund with high profits and that names such as Fatih Terim were also included in this fund, was overturned by the 22nd Criminal Chamber of the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice.

The Regional Court of Justice noted that the first instance court did not include information about the combined files in its decision, and this made the audit difficult. The chamber found the appeal applications appropriate and stated that some procedural rules were not applied during the trial process. The file was sent to Istanbul 29th High Criminal Court for retrial.

In this context, the trial of Erzan's retrial continued.

Detainee Seçil Erzan attended the hearing via the SEGBİS system. The lawyers of the parties were also present at the hearing.

It was noted that the opinion was announced during the hearing. In the opinion, it was requested that Erzan be sentenced to 56 years, 6 months to 211 years and 9 months in prison for 'qualified fraud' against 3 people, 'fraud' and 'forgery of private documents' against 27 people, including Arda Turan and Mert Zeydanlı, Selçuk İnan, Muslera, Buse Terim. In the opinion, prison sentences of varying rates were requested for 5 other defendants.

The hearing was postponed to give time for the parties to make statements against the opinion.
