Serkan Kurtuluş's first statement was taken: 'I did not establish a criminal organization'

Serkan Kurtuluş, who was caught in Argentina in 2020 while he was wanted with a red notice for 33 crimes committed in Türkiye, such as 'Premeditated murder', 'Deliberate murder', 'Establishing an organization to commit a crime', 'Threat', 'Aggravated plunder', 'Possessing or changing hands of dangerous substances without permission', 'Being a member of an organization established for the purpose of committing a crime' and 'Looting with a weapon', was caught in Argentina in 2020. The moon was brought to Istanbul.

Kurtuluş's first statement was taken via Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS) at the 53rd hearing of the case filed against him within the scope of the indictment prepared by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in 2017 and accepted by the İzmir 3rd High Criminal Court. The detained defendant Kurtuluş attended the hearing with the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS), some unarrested defendants and lawyers.

'I DID NOT ESTABLISH A CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION'

Speaking before his defense, Serkan Kurtuluş said, "A red notice was issued against me. I was arrested in Argentina on June 11, 2020. My extradition was requested to be tried for 26 crimes. In this process, there are crimes that were combined with other files and were not subject to my extradition. I will only defend these crimes." Defending against the presiding judge's accusation of establishing an organized crime group, Kurtuluş said, "I did not establish a criminal organization."

'THERE IS NO DETAILS, PROOF OR EVIDENCE'

Answering the question about the court president's virtual media posts, Serkan Kurtuluş said, "I do not have a social media account. But good or bad pages were opened in my name. I did not have a virtual media account that I used at that time." Kurtuluş, who did not accept the accusations of asking for extortion from a family, said, "The indictment says that I asked for extortion. However, there is no detail, evidence or evidence about this at any stage of the file. Most of these people did not even have a house or a car. Why should I take so many actions to get extortion from these people? The family has other hostilities, but the police did not work on this."

THE CASE WAS POSTPONED

In his opinion at the hearing, the prosecutor requested the continuation of Serkan Kurtuluş's detention. The court took a 15-minute break for an interim decision. Then, the presiding judge decided to continue Kurtuluş's detention due to suspicion of escape. Additionally, the court asked for the deficiencies in the file to be corrected and postponed the case to November 20.
