Reaction from Sevda Karaca to the operation against LGBTI+ associations

Labor Party Gaziantep Deputy Sevda Karaca reacted to the detention of many institution representatives in the operation carried out against LGBTI+ associations under the name "My Family is Safe"

Sevda Karaca said, "Defending LGBTI's right to life and organization means defending the rights and freedom of everyone in this country. The detainees should be released as soon as possible. Get off the shoulders of LGBTI organizations and the press."

Karaca, in his statement on the subject on his social media account, said:

"This morning, representatives of many institutions were detained in the operation against LGBTI associations. Akın Gürlek himself is in control of the operation called 'My family is safe'. In his statement, Gürlek boasted of detaining people who exercise their constitutional rights under the name of 'protecting the family, children and social order', and portraying LGBTI organizations as a criminal organization. Imagine a Minister of Justice criminalizing the constitutional right to organize, personally inciting hatred and discrimination, and leading the amplification of hatred and hostility by the state." Those who do not take the necessary steps against the system of violence that threatens the safety and life of women and children are now interfering with people's lives, identities and freedoms by calling them 'family'.

Stating that domestic violence is increasing and poverty and livelihood crisis threaten civil rights, Karaca said, "This system, which turns LGBTI people into enemies in order to cover up its own corruption and crimes, is trying to design society with hate speeches, operations and bans. "He commits more crimes every day," he said.

"They cannot cover up the poverty, violence and decay they have created by turning LGBTI people into enemies. No one's right to life depends on the approval of the Palace. Defending LGBTI people's right to life and association means defending the rights and freedom of everyone in this country. We will not allow the palace's agenda of arrogance and hatred, its policy of isolation and destruction! Against the politics of hate, oppression and usurpation of the right to organize; We will continue to defend the right to life, equality, constitutional freedoms and the right to organize side by side, together, without fear!
