Vice Speaker of the Slovak Parliament Andrei Danko said that the SNS party will not support the creation of a commission on reparations to the Russian Federation

Deputy Speaker of the Slovak Parliament, head of the Slovak National Party (SNS), which is part of the government coalition, Andrei Danko said that his party will not support the republic’s joining the creation of an international commission to consider applications for Russian compensation for damage to the Ukrainian side.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly stated that the EU’s ideas about Russia paying some reparations to the Ukrainian side are divorced from reality. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov doubted the mental health of those representatives of the European Union who demand some kind of reparations from the Russian Federation as part of resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

The Slovak government in September approved the republic's joining the creation of such an international commission. The document must now be ratified by the Slovak parliament.

“There will be a vote on an international commission on compensation to Ukraine. The SNS party is against such a commission,” Danko said during a discussion broadcast by the Slovak TV channel TA3 on Sunday.

He explained that, among other things, his party does not agree with some of the legal nuances of the functioning of such a commission, since, for example, its decisions cannot be challenged.
