Alpine Rescue: rescues missing hiker in Vinadio and two mountaineers on Monte Rosa

Several interventions in the last few hours by the Alpine Rescue. The soldiers of the Alpine Rescue of the Guardia di Finanza together with the Cnsas personnel identified and rescued the hiker from Cuneo who had been missing since Monday in the upper Stura Valley in the municipality of Vinadio (Cuneo). The seventy-year-old, who was suffering from hypothermia, was stabilized and airlifted to the Santa Croce hospital in Cuneo by the regional service of Azienda Zero Piemonte.

The roped party was made up of 2 people and was proceeding tied together in the direction of Capanna Margherita, when the two, of German nationality, probably lost the trail and found themselves in an area full of crevasses under the West face of the Vincent Pyramid. While crossing a very wide and deep crevasse, the second member of the team slipped and fell for about 25 metres, dragging his companion who was upstream. The man was unable to stop his fall and was dragged towards the valley, overturning, ending up stuck on the snow bridge, unable to help his companion due to the fracture of his left ankle. The technicians of the Valle d'Aosta Alpine Rescue helicopter intervened, securing the roped party and proceeding to recover the injured mountaineer and entrust him to the care of the doctor, before immediately extracting his companion from the bottom of the crevasse, unharmed.
