Operation in 10 provinces against social media posts: 10 detentions

Istanbul Police Department Public Order Branch Directorate and Anti-Cyber ​​Crimes Branch Directorate teams carried out virtual patrols on social media platforms.

According to the news of Habertürk reporter Mustafa Şekeroğlu, some accounts that made live broadcasts on Instagram and X, especially TikTok, were examined.

In the work carried out by the teams, it was determined that the suspects shared posts containing fights, threats, insults, tension and victimization.

THEIR PURPOSE IS TO GET DIGITAL INCOME

Deepening the investigation, the teams found findings that the suspects made such broadcasts to generate digital income and acted together. According to the findings of the police, the suspects were also producing content that was considered "contrary to the Turkish family structure".

Following the evaluations, proceedings were initiated against the suspects within the scope of the crimes of "Instigation or Humiliation of the Public to Hatred and Hostility" regulated in Article 216 of the TCK and "Obscenity" regulated in Article 226 of the TCK.

SIMULTANEOUS OPERATIONS IN 10 PROVINCES

After the identities and addresses of the suspects were determined, the operation button was pressed this morning. Simultaneous operations were organized in a total of 10 provinces, including Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Kocaeli, Muğla, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Malatya and Elazığ, based in Istanbul. 10 suspects were caught and detained during the operations.

A DRUG TEST WAS DONE IN CUSTODY

Necessary tests were applied to the detained suspects to detect drug or stimulant use. While the suspects' procedures at the police station continue, it was stated that the investigation is continuing in a multi-faceted manner.
