South Korea launches security situation room for Korea-Central Asia Summit

SEOUL, Sept. 3 (Yonhap) -- The Presidential Security Service (PSS) said Thursday it has launched a situation room to ensure the safety and convenience of state leaders visiting South Korea for the Korea-Central Asia Summit scheduled for mid-September.

The situation room for security and safety control was launched the previous day in central Seoul ahead of the first Korea-Central Asia Summit set for Sept. 16, the service said.

The summit will bring together leaders from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan with President Lee Jae Myung to discuss closer diplomatic and economic ties.

In the run-up to the gathering, the situation room will be in charge of ensuring the personal security of state leaders and foreign delegations and safety around their accommodations, airports and event venues, the PSS said.
