The demand for internship and apprenticeship periods to be included in insurance has been strengthened by the Supreme Court decisions.

While citizens who want the apprenticeship and internship period to be included in insurance are trying to get results by filing a lawsuit, the Supreme Court's decision in favor of the plaintiff last month has further strengthened their demands. Non-governmental organizations have intensified their calls for the immediate discussion of the legislative proposals that have been pending in the commission for years.

While insurance is provided against the risks of work accidents and occupational diseases during internships and apprenticeships, these periods are not considered as a basis for retirement as they are not considered within the scope of long-term insurance branches. Citizens who completed their registered internships and apprenticeships years ago argue that the process in question is not just about education, but that they work under a serious workload. In the cases examined by the Supreme Court, it is pointed out that it is necessary to investigate whether people actually participate in production and the nature of the work. Citizens want the issue to be resolved permanently with a legal regulation in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, instead of seeking their rights through individual lawsuits.

We talked about the issue with Murat Aydın, President of the Federation of Internship and Apprenticeship Insurance Victims, and Ferhat Salman, Founding Honorary President of the Internship and Apprenticeship Insurance Victims Solidarity Association. Aydın said, "We started our working life at a very young age and took responsibility in the workplace," and emphasized that the decisions made by the judiciary in the cases before it revealed the limits of the legislation. Stating that victimization cannot be ignored any longer, Aydın said, "We do not want to fight with anyone or target anyone. Our demand is rights, justice and equality. Years of labor cannot be stolen from our future. We do not want words anymore, we want solutions."

Salman underlined that his expectations should not be considered as a "request for privilege". Stating that the huge differences in retirement due to the fact that people in production in the same workplace have different insurance starts are not fair, Salman continued as follows: "Our struggle is not only to eliminate past grievances. The loss of our children's lives within the scope of MESEM today shows what the conditions are like. We want today's young people to have a safe, secure working life where their rights are protected. Hear our voices, do not postpone any more."
