Ustica massacre: France opens to collaboration, Rome prosecutor requests revocation of dismissal

The French authorities' openness to collaboration "opens a new direction and new perspectives" for the investigation into the Ustica massacre. The Rome prosecutor, Francesco Lo Voi, said this, asking the investigating judge to revoke the dismissal request.

At the opening of the hearing, the head of the prosecutors reported the note arrived in recent days from the French embassy to the Farnesina announcing the intention to transmit to the Italian archives all the documentation relating to the 1980 massacre. These documents date from 1981 to 1994.

"Among the documents there are 9 computer files, two documents from the French Ministry of Defense and furthermore - said Lo Voi - an opening has arrived from France to reactivate judicial collaboration also for the future".

The investigating judge reserves his right after the request of the Prosecutor's Office

The investigating judge of Rome reserved the right to decide on the request received from the Rome prosecutor, Francesco Lo Voi, to revoke the request to dismiss the investigation relating to the Ustica massacre. The decision, the judge said, will be notified to the parties but he did not specify the timing.
