Escalating settler violence in the West Bank and a mysterious flight incident between Dubai and Tel Aviv

A mass attack launched by Israeli settlers on a village in the West Bank sparked criticism that is rarely issued by officials in Israel, who are accustomed to downplaying settler violence despite international condemnation.

The escalating violence against Palestinians in recent months is led by a loosely connected movement of hard-line Israeli settlers, most of whom are young, including school dropouts from outside the West Bank, known as the “Hill Boys.” This movement derives its inspiration from a religious-nationalist ideology, and seeks to expand the Jewish presence in the occupied West Bank through the establishment of unauthorized settlement outposts.

At dawn on Tuesday, more than a hundred Israeli settlers attacked the village of Jalud in the northern West Bank, wounding three members of the Israeli security forces, while the army was accompanying a Palestinian family trying to return to their home.

In a separate context, the Iranian government announced that it had received an American proposal as part of the ongoing contacts to end the war, as Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi confirmed receipt of the proposal, while disagreements still persist over the order of steps of the proposed plan for a period of seven days.

In an air accident, a violent clash between pilots caused the diversion of a Flydubai flight that was heading from Dubai to Tel Aviv, where the plane made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Netanyahu's office confirmed that the situation is under control, while the authorities are investigating the possibility that the incident was an attack or a suicide attempt.
