Passenger dies shot inside BRT bus during police operation in Rio

A passenger who was inside a bus died this Wednesday morning (30), shot during a police operation in the southwest zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro. He was in a vehicle on the Transolímpica BRT line when he was shot.

The victim was hit near Asa Branca Station, in the Curicica neighborhood. Firefighters arrived to try to help the man, around 40 years old, but he was already dead.

According to the company Mobi Rio, which manages Rio's BRT system, the Asa Branca station was closed for police inspection.

The Military Police reported that they were carrying out an operation in the Dois Irmãos community on Wednesday morning, when they received information that a man had been shot inside a BRT bus.

According to the PM, the objective of the operation is to combat the actions of criminals and locate suspects of killing a man on Tuesday afternoon (29), in the region.

During the action, which is ongoing, a man was arrested and three rifles were seized.
