Confrontation between suspects and Military Police leaves two dead in Parnaíba

According to the 2nd Military Police Battalion (BPM), witnesses reported that the two men arrived in the neighborhood around 11pm on Tuesday (29), accompanied by other people. According to the police, the group planned retaliation for the death of a person that occurred hours earlier in the region and intended to execute a man known as "Louro".

At the scene, the police stated that they were received by gunfire by the group and retaliated. The two suspects were shot during the confrontation.

Shortly afterwards, witnesses informed the police that other armed men allegedly involved in the action were gathered in a house in the same neighborhood. Upon arriving at the property, the police reported that they were also shot at and returned fire. A man was shot.

According to the 2nd BPM, the other suspects who were in the residence managed to escape by jumping over the walls of neighboring properties.

The three injured were rescued and taken to Dirceu Arcoverde State Hospital. According to Commander Galeno, of the 27th Military Police Battalion (BPM), two of them died during the night. The third man's condition was not disclosed.

The Civil Police will investigate whether there is a relationship between the homicide recorded hours earlier in the region and the alleged retaliatory action that ended in the confrontation with the police.
