'Nuclear' warning to Europe from Russian Embassy in Dublin

Following the Kaliningrad warning made yesterday on the Telegram account of the Russian Embassy in London, a warning statement was shared today on the social media platform account of the Russian Embassy in Dublin.

"There is plenty of talk in the political lobbies in Europe that Russia is somehow planning to launch invasions in Europe, increase its so-called hybrid campaigns against European countries, or do both," the statement said. The expression was used.

In the statement, which stated that the phrase "Russian threat" is used as a slogan every day in the Western press, the following evaluation was included: "Their goals are very clear. The statement noted that Ukraine was described as "a bulwark against Russian aggression" and added: "Current European governments want everyone to believe that they are the victims of the so-called Russian aggression and that they are the addressee of a possible Russian invasion. They cannot support this claim in any way."

'RUSSIAN LAND WAS TARGETED'

The statement emphasized that Moscow has no plan, reason or motivation for tension with Europe, and pointed out that this situation should be accepted as a signal of moderation in the face of increasing NATO and European Union military activities in the west of Russia.

In the statement, the increasing NATO military presence in Poland, the Baltic countries, Norway and Finland, the plan to place French nuclear weapons in the region and the Lithuania-Poland-France joint exercise were mentioned, and it was claimed that the exercise targeted the Russian territory Kaliningrad on the Baltic Sea coast.

'THEY ATTACK DECISION-MAKING CENTERS IN ALLIANCE COUNTRIES'

Underlining that this situation is a source of great concern for Russia, the statement said:

"The irresponsible and shortsighted European political elite is playing a dangerous game. As Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently said, if the West attacks us, we will respond, and this will be a completely different, much shorter war. There should be no doubt that Russia will be ready to use its entire arsenal, including nuclear weapons, to defend its territory if NATO countries try to isolate the Kaliningrad region from the rest of the country."

The statement warned that the risk of armed conflict is high in such a scenario and continued as follows:

"There is a possibility that Russia may launch preemptive attacks against the decision-making centers in the alliance countries at the very first stage of the conflict. This is an extremely serious issue and should be taken seriously by Europe."

At a time when relations between Moscow and the West are becoming increasingly tense, Russia's westernmost exclave, Kaliningrad, is on the agenda as an important geostrategic point.

The strategic situation of the exclaves became a subject of discussion again when the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command reported that the Mi-8 type helicopter belonging to the Russian Armed Forces violated the country's airspace for 42 seconds.

In the statement made by the Command, it was stated that the Mi-8 type helicopter, flying from the Kaliningrad region north of Braniewo city in northern Poland, entered Polish airspace approximately 300 meters at 11.08 local time and stayed there for 42 seconds.

The claim that the helicopter took off from Kaliningrad, Russia's westernmost exclave, brought the region to the agenda again.

The concept of exclave is used in international relations to describe places that are geographically disconnected from the main territory of a state.

While exclave lands, which are also described as "part of the country disconnected from the main land", used to cause disadvantages due to the disconnection from the main state, today they provide important geopolitical advantages for the owning state with the development of technology and transportation.

Modern long-range missile, air defense and UAV systems can increase the military importance of strategically located exclaves.

In this context, it is stated that the Kaliningrad region, an exclave of Russia, may pose a risk for European countries in a possible Moscow-West conflict.
