İYİ Party İzmir Provincial Chairman Ülkü Doğan and İzmir Deputy Hüsmen Kırkpınar made statements about economic developments, allegations regarding funds, MPs who changed political parties and party changes of mayors at the press conference held under the provincial chairmanship.
Deputy Kırkpınar said that the allegations regarding the funds cannot be considered as an ordinary economic crisis or an isolated irregularity, and that the allegations, the structures and money movements in question should be examined comprehensively.
Hüsmen Krıkpınar said, "The picture before us is the biggest, most organized robbery after the 2001 crisis, with a huge volume of 17 to 20 billion dollars, that is, approximately 800 billion liras."
Arguing that under the AKP governments, this country has become a "country of profiteers" and this government has become a "government of robbers", Kırkpınar said:
"Moreover, this fiction came to light. The prosecutor's office files were opened exactly 1.5 years ago, and the Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek said 'there is manipulation in the funds' months ago. If you knew, who prevented the intervention in this robbery until now? Which power, which 'palace armor' protected this operation? If the international funding agency MSCI had not given an ultimatum saying 'We will take Türkiye out of the developing markets and relegate it'; this government would have belonged to the nation How long would he tolerate being robbed? Look, where were the state's control mechanisms when this huge robbery was taking place?
MASAK, Capital Markets Board (SPK), Borsa Istanbul and BRSA have been completely blind, deaf and dumb in this process. These institutions go after the little pennies in the citizens' pockets and squeeze the throats of the banks and the citizens; "When it comes to this privileged group, this wheel of robbery, he has lost his mind."

"Where were the Borsa Istanbul management, CMB and MASAK officials, whose duty is to protect the market, prevent manipulation and protect the rights of investors, when this disgrace was in front of your eyes? Didn't you see these huge money movements and abnormal increases in closed funds? Either you knowingly and willingly turned a blind eye to this robbery, or you are a collaborator of this dirty order! There is no other explanation. This recklessness is knowingly giving way to this profiteering. This robbery neither started today nor is it limited to just the last few years. The origins of this business date back to that dark period, which dates back to 2020, with huge share increases in a closed fund of 12 people and allegations of money laundering.
Those who turned a blind eye to these covert operations that day paved the way for this huge emphasis today. The actors of the robbery scheme transferred billions of lira and millions of dollars to Swiss banks and foreign accounts just before the system collapsed and the bankruptcy theater played out. After smuggling the money abroad, they said 'the system is bankrupt'. On one side, we have the police who gave up their lives for their honor, our retirees who collect market scraps, our poor people whose livelihood is stolen... On the other side, there are those who smuggle money abroad, AKP politicians and upstarts who get tips on collapse and add to their wealth!
Now we clearly warn you: If you try to cover up this matter with a few arrests, three or five detentions, or superficial decisions that will gloss over the issue, remember that the price for this will be very heavy! If this scandal is not investigated thoroughly and seriously, the cost of this huge funding crisis will fall directly on the Treasury and on our nation, whose burden is getting heavier day by day. You have to open this wound completely and sincerely, without further delay, without any political protection. Otherwise, those who established this order will bear the responsibility.”
"THE POLITICAL MORALS LAW SHOULD BE ENTERED"
Referring to political transfers, Hüsmen Kırkpınar said, "They resigned from our party, changed parties, wore badges and became MPs of other political parties. Those who left the door open that day and said 'welcome' to our MPs who left us, forgot the door open and now there are those who went somewhere else. I guess a political morality law should be passed now. It is overdue. This is disloyalty to the voters, disloyalty to the voters of the party they were elected to, and also an immorality."

"We see that the municipalities that the people of Izmir did not give to the AKP at the ballot box passed to the AKP through political transfers after the election. Our Chairman, Mr. Müsavat Dervişoğlu, said very clearly from the first day: 'A mayor or deputy elected from a political party has an obligation to respect the will of the voters who voted for him. You cannot endorse that love and vote to another political party.' Because democracy is not just setting up the ballot box and counting the votes.
Democracy means respecting the decision of the nation even after the ballot box is closed. The owner of the envelope, vote and seal in the ballot box is the citizen. Elected offices are not the political property of individuals, but are entrusted to them by the nation. The nation does not just give a person a position; It gives the task of representing a political will. That will cannot be transferred to another political party at personal discretion after being elected. This is the situation that really worries us in Turkey today. On the one hand, badges are given to mayors who are affiliated with the ruling party, and on the other hand, elected mayors of the opposition are in prison. Moreover, we are faced with a system in which even the public service, which is a citizen's right, is sometimes discussed on the basis of political affiliation.
We say this clearly: The state is not the organization of the ruling party. The duty of the central administration is not to reward the municipality that joins it or to punish the municipality that remains in opposition. Every citizen is an equal citizen of this state, regardless of which party he voted for; Every municipality should receive equal treatment from the central administration regarding services. The state's resources cannot be used as a reward and punishment mechanism for a political party. Because the state belongs to all of us. If you try to reshape the political outcome that you could not win at the ballot box with state power, pressure, and transfers, you may not eliminate the ballot box, but you will eliminate the meaning of the ballot box. The will of the people of Izmir is not negotiable. The vote of the people of Izmir is non-transferable and non-negotiable. The trust of the nation cannot be transferred to another party. "If you want Izmir, you will win at the ballot box, not at closed doors."

Izmir Provincial Mayor Ülkü Doğan also evaluated the allegations regarding the funds and said:
"I think it has been around 15 minutes since our press conference started. During this 15-minute period, a worker working in a factory, that is, working for minimum wage, earned approximately 10 liras. A retiree earned approximately 8 liras. Well, I wondered what the money earned by the minister in question, who allegedly invested 163 million liras in four months and in return earned over 2 billion in 4 months.
While retirees earn 8 liras and workers earn 10 liras, it is claimed that this minister earned 173 thousand liras in 15 minutes. This is a very striking layout. Moreover, almost on the same day, I think it was the day before, one of our retirees committed suicide in this country, saying 'We cannot make ends meet'. If the citizen is in this situation, if the retiree is in this situation, if he lives in this situation with minimum wage and it is claimed that a minister earns these figures together with his wife, the problem in this country is not just inflation or salaries, but injustice. Unfortunately. By the way, no one can cover up questions about their surname, political position, past ministry or closeness to the government. These allegations must be investigated down to the last penny and the truth must be revealed.
Because, as I said, there cannot be a privileged surname in the face of the law. It cannot be a privileged position. There cannot be a privileged political identity. "And in a country where millions of people live on 10 liras, holding them accountable for a gain of 2 billion liras is not politics, but a public duty."
