The book Swan Song: Diana, My Sister has not yet been released but is already shaking the British crown. A week before its publication, scheduled for September 22, extracts from the book by Charles Spencer, Lady Diana's younger brother, were revealed in the pages of the Daily Mail. One of them directly targets King Charles III. After the disappearance of the Princess of Wales in a tragic car accident in Paris on August 31, 1997, the son of Elizabeth II lost her temper during a telephone conversation with his ex-brother-in-law about the organization of the funeral.

Charles Spencer then told her that his sister would probably not have wanted their sons, William and Harry, then aged 15 and 12, to walk behind his coffin during the funeral procession through the streets of London.

A “repressed contempt” for Diana

With his work, Charles Spencer intends to “tell the truth” about his sister Diana by going back in detail on her story, her childhood in the English countryside, her union then the end of her marriage with Prince Charles, as well as the days which followed her death. “As the 30th anniversary of Diana's tragic death approaches, I have once again been inundated with requests for interviews about my sister,” he explained according to the Daily Mail.
