Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce was elected as TBB Deputy President

The TBB Assembly convened in a hotel for the vice-presidential election after the dismissal of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer, who was arrested for "forgery of official documents", "tender rigging", "establishing an organization" and "fraud".

At the meeting, which started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın announced their candidacies.

After the proposals were read, voting began for the TBB Vice President election. In the election held by secret ballot, TBB members cast their votes in 15 ballot boxes.

In the first round, Ünlüce received 409 votes and Büyükakın 369 votes. Since the candidates could not reach the two-thirds majority required to be elected, a second round of voting was held.

In the second round, 403 votes were cast for Ünlüce and 385 votes for Büyükakın. In the third round, 406 votes were given to Ünlüce and 363 votes to Büyükakın.

Since the sufficient majority could not be achieved, the fourth round was held in which the candidate with the most votes would be elected.

In the last round, Ünlüce received 417 votes and Büyükakın received 369 votes. With this result, Ünlüce was elected as the Vice President of TBB.

Ayşe Ünlüce, in her speech after the voting, said:

"I would like to thank all of you very much for the position of Deputy Chairman of TBB, which I will hold with great honor and with the favor of our mayors and council members. I have been elected to this position to deputize our Chairman of TBB, Mr. Vahap Seçer. I promise that I will carry out this duty equally and fairly, without any discrimination, for our municipalities and for you, until he quickly regains his freedom and I hand over this duty to him."
