Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Kurtulmuş: "We will hopefully build a terror-free region"

Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM), met with representatives of non-governmental organizations at the program held in Batman. Batman Deputy Ferhat Nasıroğlu, Diyarbakır Deputy Suna Kepoğlu Ataman, HUDA PAR Batman Deputy Serkan Ramanlı, Mersin Deputy Emin Ekmen and many guests attended the program.

Kurtulmuş made evaluations regarding the Terror-Free Türkiye target and the developments in the region. Stating that a new process has begun after the change of the dictatorship that lasted for decades in Syria, Kurtulmuş drew attention to the will to integrate the armed groups in the country into the Syrian state. Stating that PYD, YPG and KCK are also within this scope, Kurtulmuş wished that the integration process would be completed successfully as soon as possible.

"STEPS HAVE NOW STARTED TO BE TAKEN IN THIS PROCESS"

Emphasizing that the goal of a terrorism-free Türkiye is also important for the region, Kurtulmuş said:

"We were saying that there would be a terror-free environment in the region along with a terror-free Turkey. We probably had friends who thought that this was political rhetoric when they heard about a terror-free Türkiye. But I can assure you that steps have now begun to be taken in this process and will be taken quickly."

Referring to his meeting with the Iraqi Parliament Speaker, who paid an official visit to Ankara a while ago, Kurtulmuş said that the Iraqi side also made evaluations that the goal of a Terror-free Türkiye would contribute to a terrorist-free zone. Kurtulmuş stated that during the meeting, it was stated that the process for the integration of armed groups in Iraq into the state structure would be initiated at the end of September or at the beginning of October.

Touching on the developments in the Sinjar region of Iraq, Kurtulmuş said that a structure affiliated with the PKK accepted and started the process of integrating into the Iraqi army and security forces with its armed force of approximately 2 thousand people.
