According to the statement made by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, TENMAK Research Scholarship Programs, initiated by the Ministry's relevant organization, Turkey Energy, Nuclear and Mining Research Agency (TENMAK), consist of two categories: success and research.
The program aims to support young people who are competent, productive and able to conduct research at international standards, starting from the first year of university.
Focuses on strategic areas
The first call of the program, TENMAK Domestic Undergraduate Achievement Scholarship, focused on energy, nuclear technology, mining, artificial intelligence, software, materials and similar strategic areas. Students who ranked in the top 100 thousand in the 2025 or 2026 YKS exam were able to apply for the scholarship program. Candidates who completed the first year and moved on to the second year were required to have a GPA of at least 2.50/4.00 or 65/100.
Applications of 20 thousand 632 candidates who met the application requirements were evaluated. 82 percent of the applications from 81 provinces of Türkiye came from state universities and 18 percent from foundation universities. In addition to the YKS Türkiye winner, the application pool included 9 candidates in the top 10 in the YKS rankings, 87 in the top 100 and 700 candidates in the top 1000.
500 students were entitled to receive scholarships
Candidates were automatically ranked through the electronic system in line with the criteria specified in the call text and the application principles of the program. As a result of this ranking, a total of 500 students from 30 different undergraduate branches were entitled to receive scholarships.
Students accepted to the program will be given a monthly scholarship of 13 thousand 750 lira.
Scholars will also be enabled to work with mentors, taking into account their fields of study and career goals. In addition, it is aimed to introduce them to the research ecosystem, support their academic and professional development, and introduce them to TENMAK's working areas at an early stage.
Applications for the TENMAK Domestic Undergraduate Achievement Scholarship started to be received on "burs.tenmak.gov.tr" on September 1, and the applications, which were planned to end on September 15, were extended until September 21 due to the YKS registration procedures of some universities.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that approximately 70 thousand students entered the system to search for scholarship opportunities and more than 20 thousand applications that met the conditions were accepted.
Minister Bayraktar stated that they were pleased with the record application that came above expectations and said:
"Our support for training qualified human resources will continue. In February, we will expand the scope and make a new call. We will add new undergraduate departments and also include students studying in the 3rd and 4th grades of universities."
