Emdec workers go on strike on September 7th in Campinas

Emdec workers began a strike at midnight this Monday (7) in Campinas (SP). The strike occurs during the civic event on September 7th.

Officials say the strike has reduced the number of officers at roadblocks and bus stops. Emdec hired 80 agents and reassigned employees to mitigate the impacts.

Sindviários reported on Friday (4) that 124 of the 128 agents selected joined the movement. The category had been in standard operation since Wednesday (2).

The strike is part of the salary campaign. The union rejects the company's 4.8% adjustment proposal, after negotiations of up to 5.5% in the TRT.

The category demands advances in the Positions, Careers and Salary Plan. According to the entity, salary losses exceed 60% in relation to the IPCA in 3 decades.

Workers from the Municipal Development Company of Campinas (Emdec) went on strike at midnight this Monday (7), the day of the civic act on September 7 in the center of Campinas (SP).

According to officials, the strike reduced the number of agents at the blocking points set up for the event. They claim that there is a lack of professionals to guide drivers about closures and detours.

There are also fewer officers at bus stops, according to workers. The service is used to guide passengers about changes in itineraries caused by the civic act.

Officials also say that other traffic and transportation enforcement services have been affected.

Emdec reported that it selected 80 traffic and transport agents to work at the event. To cover the absences caused by joining the strike, the company said it placed employees from other areas to guide the population.

According to Emdec, every effort is being made to avoid impacts on the parade.

On Friday (4), the Road Workers Union (Sindviários) reported that 124 of the 128 agents scheduled to work on the holiday had joined the mobilization.

The strike had already been announced by the category. Since Wednesday (2), workers were also in standard operation.

According to the union, in this type of protest, employees continue working, but follow all safety rules and procedures, without improvisations to compensate for problems in structure, equipment, staff or planning.

The strike is part of the salary campaign for Emdec workers.

According to Sindviários, the company presented a proposal for an adjustment of 4.8%. The entity states that percentages of 5.39% and 5.5% were previously discussed, the latter being during mediation at the Regional Labor Court (TRT).

The union also demands progress in the new Positions, Careers and Salary Plan (PCCS), with the recognition of the length of service of current employees.

The entity also states that salaries have accumulated a loss of purchasing power of more than 60% in relation to the IPCA over around three decades.

Sindviários says it remains open to negotiation.
