Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) published Motor Land Vehicles data for August 2026. Accordingly; 171 thousand 887 vehicles were registered to traffic in August.
In August, 47.5% of the vehicles registered to traffic were motorcycles, 38.4% were automobiles, 9.6% were pickup trucks, 1.6% were tractors, 1.6% were trucks, 0.8% were minibuses, 0.4% were buses and 0.1% were special purpose vehicles.
THE NUMBER OF VEHICLES REGISTERED TO TRAFFIC DECREASED BY 17.2% COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS MONTH
While the number of vehicles registered to traffic in August increased by 12.2% for minibuses and 0.3% for buses compared to the previous month, it decreased by 39.5% for special purpose vehicles, 32.0% for trucks, 18.2% for motorcycles, 16.1% for automobiles, 15.7% for pickup trucks and 15.5% for tractors.
THE NUMBER OF VEHICLES REGISTERED TO TRAFFIC DECREASED BY 20.1% COMPARED TO THE SAME MONTH OF THE LAST YEAR
In August, compared to the same month of the previous year, the number of vehicles registered to traffic increased by 12.9% for buses and 0.7% for minibuses, while it decreased by 30.5% for automobiles, 14.0% for special purpose vehicles, 13.6% for motorcycles, 11.7% for tractors, 10.4% for trucks and 4.7% for pickup trucks.
THE TOTAL NUMBER OF VEHICLES REGISTERED TO TRAFFIC WAS 34 MILLION 911 THOUSAND 879 AS OF THE END OF AUGUST
As of the end of August, 51.7% of registered vehicles were automobiles, 21.8% were motorcycles, 14.3% were pickup trucks, 6.7% were tractors, 3.0% were trucks, 1.6% were minibuses, 0.6% were buses and 0.3% were special purpose vehicles.
917 THOUSAND 143 VEHICLES WERE TRANSFERRED IN AUGUST
Of the vehicles transferred in August, 66.4% were automobiles, 13.7% were pickup trucks, 12.5% were motorcycles, 3.0% were tractors, 1.9% were trucks, 1.8% were minibuses, 0.5% were buses and 0.2% were special purpose vehicles.
66 THOUSAND 48 CARS WERE REGISTERED TO TRAFFIC IN AUGUST
12.3% of the cars registered to traffic in August were Renault, 8.5% Volkswagen, 8.4% Hyundai, 7.3% TOGG, 7.2% Toyota, 5.8% Peugeot, 5.2% Skoda, 4.6% Mercedes-Benz, 4.3% Citroen, 4.2% Kia, 3.7% Fiat, 3.4% Nissan made up 3.1%, Opel 2.8%, Volvo 2.4%, Dacia 2.4%, BMW 2.4%, Chery 2.3%, Audi 2.0%, Honda 1.5%, Jeep 1.2% and other brands 7.4%.
DURING THE JANUARY-AUGUST PERIOD, 1 MILLION 342 THOUSAND 134 VEHICLES WERE REGISTERED TO TRAFFIC
In the January-August period, compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of vehicles registered to traffic decreased by 14.1% and became 1 million 342 thousand 134, while the number of vehicles deregistered from traffic increased by 23.1% and reached 41 thousand 641. Thus, in the January-August period, the total number of vehicles in traffic increased by 1 million 300 thousand 493.
40.8% OF THE CARS REGISTERED TO TRAFFIC IN THE PERIOD OF JANUARY-AUGUST WERE GASOLINE FUELED
Of the 600 thousand 859 cars registered to traffic in the January-August period, 40.8% were gasoline, 32.1% hybrid, 18.1% electric, 7.8% diesel and 1.2% LPG. Of the 18 million 37 thousand 907 cars registered in traffic as of the end of August, 32.0% were diesel, 31.0% were gasoline, 29.2% were LPG, 5.0% were hybrid and 2.6% were electric. The rate of cars with unknown fuel type is 0.2%.
DURING THE JANUARY-AUGUST PERIOD, AUTOMOBILES OF 1300 AND BELOW CYLINDER VOLUMES WERE REGISTERED.
Of the 600 thousand 859 cars registered to traffic in the January-August period, 31.5% were 1300 and below, 16.7% were 1401-1500, 14.3% were 1501-1600, 10.6% were 1301-1400, 7.9% were 1601-2000, 1.0% were 1.0%. It has an engine cylinder volume of 2001 and above.

Of the 600 thousand 859 cars registered in the January-August period, 41.5% were grey, 25.5% were white, 12.0% were black, 9.9% were blue, 5.7% were green, 3.2% were red, 1.3% were brown, 0.3% were orange, 0.3% were yellow and 0.1% were other colours.
