Union Reaction to TÜİK's August Inflation Announcement: 'The Civil Servant's Problem is Not Being Able to Make a Living'

TÜİK announced the August inflation as 1.84 percent and the annual inflation as 31.51 percent.

All Local-Sen reacted to the figures announced by TUIK. In the statement made by the union, "According to TURKSTAT, inflation may be decreasing. However, market prices, rents, bills and kitchen expenses are not decreasing. Salaries are melting before they even reach the pocket. Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek says that basic goods inflation has decreased to the lowest level in recent years with 15.9 percent, and rental inflation has also decreased to the lowest level in the last 46 months.

Well, let's ask Mr. Minister; Which civil servant's rent decreased by 15.9 percent? Which public worker sees prices getting cheaper when he goes to the market? While the high cost of living experienced by workers is obvious, the discourse of "price stability" no longer explains the truth. Do not say that the economy is improving while the worker is becoming poor! If price stability is to be achieved, the price of this should not be deducted from the salary of the civil servant, from the pension of the retiree, from the wage of the worker. Our demand is clear: A wage sufficient to live humanely, We want fair income distribution and real wage assurance, because workers will not pay the price of the crisis you caused! Budget for labor, not capital! he said.
