Türkiye Building Earthquake Regulation will be updated

It is envisaged that the Turkish Building Earthquake Regulation will be revised next year, and training materials will be prepared and trainings will be planned for implementation.

According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent from the 2027 Presidential Annual Program, studies will be carried out to increase the resistance of all existing and new infrastructures and superstructures against disasters.

Accordingly, the legislation on disaster-resistant construction will be reviewed, and multiple disaster hazards will be taken into account in all newly built infrastructures and superstructures.

In this context, Türkiye Building Earthquake Regulation will be revised and training materials will be prepared and trainings will be planned for its implementation.

In the study, where the Ministry of Internal Affairs was determined as the responsible institution, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), relevant public institutions and organizations, local governments, universities and non-governmental organizations were listed among the institutions to be cooperated.

Reinforcement works in public buildings will continue

The program also included measures to strengthen the disaster and emergency preparedness of structures where public services, especially education and health, are provided.

In this context, public buildings will continue to be strengthened against earthquakes and become energy efficient within the scope of the Public Buildings Earthquake Resistance and Energy Efficiency Project.

While the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change will be the responsible institution in this study, relevant public institutions and organizations will cooperate.
