According to the information obtained by the AA correspondent from the sources of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 37 thousand 506 operations were carried out against drug production and trafficking crimes within the scope of Article 188 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) between January 1 and August 31, 2026.
170 thousand 98 cases were recorded regarding drug use and other crimes within the scope of Articles 190 and 191 of the Turkish Penal Code.
As a result of studies on narcotic crimes, 250 thousand 931 people were detained, 31 thousand 754 of them were arrested, and judicial control orders were given for 14 thousand 331 suspects.
59 thousand 166 suspects were detained in operations against drug production and trafficking crimes. 30 thousand 727 of the suspects were arrested, and a judicial control order was imposed on 11 thousand 343 of them.
191 thousand 765 suspects were detained in incidents related to drug use and other crimes. 1027 of these suspects were arrested, and a judicial control order was given for 2 thousand 988 of them.
In the same period last year, 35 thousand 864 operations were carried out against drug production and trafficking crimes, and 164 thousand 860 cases were recorded within the scope of drug use and other crimes. During the said period, 28 thousand 734 suspects were arrested and judicial control orders were imposed on 15 thousand 932 suspects.
Approximately 35 tons of drugs were seized during the operations, including 12.6 tons of skunk, 9.9 tons of marijuana, 9.1 tons of methamphetamine, 1.3 tons of cocaine, 1.1 tons of heroin, 939 kilograms of bonzai and 48 kilograms of opium gum.
The teams also seized a total of 87.1 million drug pills, including 77.6 million synthetic drugs, 8 million captagon and 1.5 million ecstasy, and 19 million cannabis root and skunk.
In the same period last year, 27.4 tons of drugs, 94.6 million drug pills and 57.2 million cannabis roots and skunks were seized.
117 thousand 36 reports were recorded within the scope of NARVAS
Within the scope of the Narcotics Case Analysis System (NAVAS), 117 thousand 36 reports were recorded between January 1 and August 31, 2026. In line with the notices, 157 thousand 636 applications and 12 thousand 606 operations were carried out.
In the studies within the scope of NARVAS, action was taken against 14 thousand 309 suspects, 13 thousand 331 of whom were for narcotics and 978 for other crimes.
During the work, 125 kilograms of drugs, 569 thousand 348 drug pills, 350 pistols and 446 rifles were seized.
In the same period last year, 107 thousand 134 reports were recorded, 231 thousand 868 applications and 12 thousand 751 operations were carried out within the scope of NARVAS.
Approximately 37 million people were reached through education and prevention activities
Within the scope of the fight against drugs, education and prevention projects such as Narco Guide, Best Narcotics Police Mother, Narco Immigrant, Narko Kaan, Narko Truck, Narco Youth, Narco Competition and Narko Nokta were carried out.
With these projects, 5 million 387 thousand 47 people were reached in 2022, 7 million 544 thousand 211 in 2023, 9 million 494 thousand 442 in 2024 and 10 million 183 thousand 558 people in 2025.
While 4 million 344 thousand 841 people were reached in the period until August 31 of this year, the number of people reached within the scope of education and prevention activities since 2022 was 36 million 954 thousand 99.

Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi, in his assessment of the operations to the AA correspondent, said:
"Our biggest goal in this struggle is not to allow even one of our children to fall into the trap of dark circles. While narrowing down our streets to poison dealers, we see it as a national duty to protect our future and our family institution.
We seized approximately 35 tons of drugs in 8 months of the year. As a result of the work carried out, more than 31 thousand suspects were arrested. However, we know that one of our strongest shields in the fight against drugs is our strong family structure. The support of our families, especially our precious mothers, gives us great strength in this struggle. We will continue our fight against those who want to poison our children with determination, targeting the entire criminal chain, from the street dealer to the organizer of the drug. "Our security forces will continue to be on the field day and night to protect our youth and families."
