Tuzla Solidarity Platform held its founding meeting

Tuzla Solidarity Platform, whose establishment accelerated after Eren Ali Bingöl, who was elected as the Mayor of Tuzla from CHP, passed to AKP, held its founding meeting with the aim of joint struggle against environmental problems, zoning rent and ignoring the will of the people. At the meeting that brought together citizens with MPs, political party, union and association representatives, it was emphasized that "Tuzla is Turkey; Tuzla's problems are Turkey's problems".

Tuzla Solidarity Platform, which set out with the slogan "Our first word is Tuzla, our last word is Tuzla", met with intense participation at İdris Güllüce Cultural Center on Saturday, October 3. At the meeting, a call was made to grow a solidarity that supervises local governments, where citizens have a say and decide against the problems of the district that have not been solved for years.

EMEP Istanbul Deputy İskender Bayhan, TİP Istanbul Deputy Sera Kadıgil and DEM Party Istanbul Deputy Cengiz Çiçek attended and supported the meeting. İBB and Tuzla Municipal Council Member Filiz Akyol Akar, Çağdaş Tuzla Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Halil Özen, Esenyalı Women's Solidarity Association President Adile Doğan, Positive Psychology Family Counseling Association President Murat Ürgen and Ali Doğan on behalf of the shipyard workers' newspaper Baret also made speeches.

NEW Party Tuzla District Chairman Bülent Akköse, EMEP Tuzla District Chairman Çilem Tekalmaz, TİP Tuzla District Chairman Hüseyin Akkaya and DEM Party Tuzla District Director Hüseyin Tezel also spoke at the meeting; Representatives of TEKSİF, Aydınlı Cemevi and various local organizations were present. EMEP Deputy Chairman Levent Tüzel emphasized in his message that Tuzla workers should rely on their own organized power and unity.

Halil Özen made the opening speech; He drew attention to the accumulated problems, from poisonous barrels to purification odors, from worker deaths in shipyards to development rent. Touching on the disappointment caused by Imaginary Precedent Transfers, Hobby Villas, the opening of military areas for development, and Mayor Eren Ali Bingöl's change of party, Özen stated that the future of Tuzla cannot be left to the mercy of individuals and that they aim to create a citizen movement that questions, inspects and intervenes. Saying "Tuzla is Turkey", Özen called on all citizens for solidarity.

While İskender Bayhan, one of the regional MPs, called for increasing the common struggle for Tuzla to become the city of workers, Sera Kadıgil emphasized the importance of citizens coming together to protect their own future. Cengiz Çiçek, on the other hand, stated that the platform should defend the common interests of the poor, laborers, women and youth, and promised to fight together. It is emphasized that the platform "will not be the backyard of any political party"; It was stated that it will work for a clean environment, safe work, women's and children's rights, protection of public resources and supervision of zoning practices.

Participants stated that they aim to ensure that the public has a direct say in solving Tuzla's problems by carrying solidarity to neighborhoods and workplaces.
