Today, Friday 4 September 2026, the third day of the 83rd edition of the Venice Biennale International Film Festival opens (THE PROGRAM - THE RED CARPET OF THE SECOND DAY). Susan Sarandon, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Barbara Ronchi and Laura Dern arrived at the Lido, while Pamela Anderson was spotted at the airport.
Among the 21 films in Competition (ALL FILMS IN COMPETITION) is 15/18 (A Place to Heal) by Cédric Kahn.
Also in competition is the film Mr. Nelson, Did You Kill People? by Shinya Tsukamoto and with Geoffrey Rush.
Out of Competition are the Non Fiction films Queer Edward II by Theo Rollason, My Undesirable Friends: Part II – Exile Chapters 1-2-3 and My Undesirable Friends: Part II – Exile Chapter 4-5 by Julia Loktev, and Shumei: The Living Legacy of Kabuki by Takashi Miike, as well as Fiction The Basics of Philosophy by Paul Schrader and with Jack Huston and Bill Pullman, and Jupiter by Alexandre Smia.
Also expected are the Cartier Masterclass with Chloé Zhao, the arrival of Anna Ferzetti and, on the red carpet, the Chanel delegation with Marillon Cotillard and Georgina Rodriguez.
In the Orizzonti section there are the films La Maison Du Vent by Auguste Bernard Kouemo Yanghu and The City of the Living by Edoardo Gabriellini.
In the Biennale College Cinema section there is the film Gu Shi by Amie Song.

This year too, Unicef Italia is present at the Venice International Film Festival with the video of the "Do not remain silent" campaign dedicated to combating gender violence, the awarding of the Cinema for Unicef Report to underline the ideal link between the world of cinema and childhood and the meeting dedicated to Youth, cinema and solidarity. "Cinema has always been a tool capable of uniting, telling stories, even from very distant worlds, and making them closer to the daily life of each of us. It allows us to deal with different points of view, enriching our gaze and our awareness. Telling about childhood and adolescence means precisely this: opening a perspective on stories, dreams, desires, fragilities, dangers and deprivations. I ideally dedicate the "Cinema Report for UNICEF 2026" to all the boys and girls in the world victims of violence and conflicts: from Gaza to Lebanon, where I recently went on a mission, from Ukraine to Sudan, without forgetting the children involved in the many silent emergencies. They all urgently need protection, health, food, drinking water, education and psychosocial support for 80 years. Every evening, at the Palabiennale, during the screening of films for the public, the video of the "Don't remain silent" campaign dedicated to combating gender violence will be broadcast, with a particular focus on teenage girls, inviting them to pick up on some alarm bells that are sometimes belittled in emotional terms.

In the first, at 80 years old, Josette lives alone in Yaoundé, Cameroon. His children have all left for the West. He would like them to build homes in their home country, in an attempt to bring them back to him one day. But the unexpected bond that arises with Sarah, a young woman from the neighborhood, calls into question everything around which she has built her existence: her family, the responsibilities and the hopes that still animate her.
In the second, Luca is 23 years old. He lives in a family that adopted him and loves him. He moves with his friends between the suburbs and the center and has a girlfriend with whom he lives a young but important love for both of them. Luca is looking for his path, at an age when everything still seems possible and at the same time already lost, and in this search he lives a double life. One night, after an apparently casual encounter, the trajectory of Luca's life breaks, shattering against blind and senseless violence.
