Viareggio: 46-year-old cyclist hit and killed by a pirate van

A 46-year-old woman on a bicycle died during the night in Viareggio (Lucca), hit by a pirate vehicle, a van of which no trace was lost. The driver ran away and a search is underway.

It happened before 3am on the old Torre Matilde overpass near a petrol station. When help arrived, the woman was in very serious condition. Her name was Linda Martinucci. During transport to the emergency room she died.

Surveys and investigations are underway. It appears that the van overtook a car and hit the victim. The driver did not stop.
