Vicenza, 9 year old girl calls the police and has her violent father arrested

A nine-year-old girl ran away from home with her mother and then called the police, having her father arrested for mistreating her. A story that comes from Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza), where police officers arrested a 51-year-old Moroccan citizen for family mistreatment. Around 1.40pm the call came to 112 from the little girl, who clearly reported that she had just run away from home with her mother to escape a violent attack by her father. The patrol tracked them down shortly afterwards on the street, near a school. The mother, in an evident state of shock and in tears, had injuries to her head and right arm, and was admitted to hospital.

The reconstruction

According to what the little girl said, the attack occurred during lunch, for trivial reasons. The man allegedly pushed his wife to the ground, who hit her head on the kitchen table, then stepped on her arm. Immediately afterwards he attempted to throw a chair at the woman, and the little girl came between her parents, being in turn yanked and pushed away, fortunately without suffering any injuries.

The 51-year-old was found inside the house, in a clear state of alteration due to alcohol abuse, who admitted the violence committed. The officers reconstructed a picture of abuse that had lasted for years, for which the man, with other criminal records, was declared under arrest and taken to the prison to await the validation hearing.
