VIDEO: Fire hits apartment in the north of Porto Velho

Images recorded by people passing by the scene show the apartment engulfed in fire.

According to the Military Fire Department, neighbors noticed the flames, called the corporation and forced entry into the apartment. They also used fire extinguishers from the building itself to try to control the fire before the team arrived.

The resident suffered smoke inhalation, suffered minor burns to her hair and had compromised airways. She received treatment at the scene and was taken to a hospital, where she remained in the ICU, under medical observation.

Firefighters finished fighting the flames and eliminating the last hot spots. In addition, ventilation equipment was used to remove smoke accumulated in the apartment and in the block's corridors.

The fire mainly affected the living room and destroyed the furniture in the room. The heat also melted plastic parts of the air conditioning units in the living room and bedrooms. Despite the damage, the actions of residents and firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to other rooms and neighboring apartments.
