Farewell message from Vincenzo Montella: 'You will always have a very special place in my heart'

The Vincenzo Montella era in the National Football Team has ended. After parting ways with Türkiye, the Italian coach said goodbye to Türkiye with the message he published on his social media account.

Referring to the three years he spent in Türkiye, Montella stated that they experienced a journey that left traces far beyond football and thanked everyone who supported him.

Vincenzo Montella's post is as follows:

"Every good story has an end, but some journeys leave traces far beyond football.

It was a great honor for me to be the coach of the Turkish National Team.

Three years ago, I was appointed to manage the national team of this beautiful country. For this reason, I would like to wholeheartedly thank the then President, Mr. Mehmet Büyükekşi, and his team, who believed in me at the beginning of our journey and did not spare their trust and appreciation.

I would like to thank our players wholeheartedly for their selfless struggle, effort and commitment. The countless loving messages I received from them after the end of my duty as coach were once again proof of this strong bond between us. To my technical team and all my colleagues for their endless efforts; To our President Mr. İbrahim Ethem Hacıosmanoğlu and the Turkish Football Federation for their trust in me; Most importantly, I would like to thank our fans wholeheartedly for their unique passion and support they give us all over the world.

We have experienced unforgettable moments together, achieved historic achievements, overcome difficulties and written a special story in the history of this country. I will always carry all these memories and the warmth that the Turkish people made me feel in my heart.

Football is not just about results and trophies. In my opinion, how a coach is remembered when he leaves a country is as important as his achievements on the field. I hope that the Turkish people will remember me with love and respect, thanks to the unforgettable feelings that I shared with my players and technical team.
