Volkswagen and Audi are recalling almost a million vehicles

The automobile companies Volkswagen and Audi have to recall almost a million vehicles.

The reason for the recall is a screw break, which can lead to the steering failing, as the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) announced. To solve the problem, according to KBA, the steering screw connection must be replaced with a more corrosion-resistant screw. The portal t-online had previously reported.

According to KBA, the VW models Tiguan, Touran, Golf Variant, Caddy and Golf that were produced between September 24, 2013 and July 1, 2024 are affected. Almost 2.16 million vehicles worldwide could be affected, including almost 900,000 in Germany. The KBA announced that the same problem occurred with the Audi Q3 with a production period between October 31, 2017 and May 23, 2024. Almost 700,000 vehicles worldwide are potentially affected, including 58,555 in Germany.

According to the company, the damage rate for affected models is a maximum of one percent

People who own this vehicle can contact the relevant car company or an authorized repairer for more information. Possible elimination of the problem is free of charge for vehicle owners.

According to the trade magazine Auto Motor Sport, corrosion of the screw in question caused by moisture is the reason for the recall. According to information from the magazine, the company assumes that the damage rate for the affected cars is at most one percent. According to the KBA, no injuries or damage to property have been reported so far and the cars can still be driven.
