Steering Failure in Volkswagen and Audi: Millions of Vehicles Recalled

According to the news of the German news agency DPA, the breakage of a screw in the steering mechanism of these vehicles can cause complete loss of steering control while driving.

It is stated that in order to eliminate possible accidents and risks, the steering bolt should be replaced with a new part that is more resistant to rust.

Millions of vehicles are under review

Details regarding the brands, models and production dates included in the recall and technical review by the German Automobile Club (ADAC) were also shared.

Accordingly, VW Tiguan, Touran, Golf Variant, Caddy and Golf models produced within the Volkswagen Group between September 24, 2013 and July 1, 2024 are at risk of chronic failure.

The technical glitch is expected to affect approximately 2.8 million vehicles worldwide and over 900 thousand vehicles in Germany.

It was reported that a similar technical problem was also detected in the Audi Group.

The malfunction in question, which covers Audi Q3 models taken off the line between October 31, 2017 and May 23, 2024, directly concerns approximately 700 thousand vehicles worldwide and 58 thousand 555 vehicles in Germany.

German authorities and automotive manufacturers underline that, in the face of this situation that directly endangers driver safety, citizens who own vehicles on the list should contact official authorized services as soon as possible in order to avoid any grievance.
