The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 hybrid model goes on sale in Japan as the most powerful version of the series with its 457 horsepower.

Toyota has renewed its iconic off-road vehicle Land Cruiser 300 model with a comprehensive update in the Japanese market. With this update, the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 hybrid version stands out as the most powerful model of the series produced to date.

At the center of the innovations is the new hybrid power unit, which replaces the standard pure gasoline V6 engine and takes the vehicle to the next level in terms of performance. This new system significantly increases the technical capacity of the vehicle.

Powerful Hybrid Performance and Technical Details

At the heart of the new hybrid Land Cruiser 300 model is a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine and an electric motor integrated into a 10-speed automatic transmission. With the support provided by the compact battery with a capacity of 6.5 Ah placed on the trunk floor, the system produces a total of 457 horsepower and 790 Nm of torque.

Despite the transition to hybrid architecture, the vehicle does not compromise on its legendary off-road capabilities. Land Cruiser 300 continues to maintain its 700 mm wading depth even in difficult conditions.

Safety precautions were not forgotten in the design of the vehicle, and even in the event of a possible hybrid system failure, the vehicle was able to continue its journey using only its internal combustion engine. Due to the additional weight brought by this hybrid system, the vehicle became 170 kg heavier in total, while the fuel tank capacity was reduced from 80 liters to 68 liters.

Hardware Options and Design Innovations

Within the scope of the update, the pure gasoline 3.5-liter V6 engine has been completely removed from the options. For users who prefer a traditional internal combustion engine, the 3.3-liter V6 diesel engine, which offers 307 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, is left as the only option in the series.

The new Land Cruiser 300 is offered in three different equipment levels in the Japanese market: GX, ZX and GR Sport. The hybrid power unit can be preferred starting from the mid-level ZX hardware.

In exterior design, hybrid versions differ from their diesel siblings with their redesigned front bumper structure. The optional Modellista style package includes details such as an aerodynamic body kit, extended fenders and side steps. This package also includes a new trunk lid lining, roof spoiler and 20-inch specially designed alloy wheels.

Pricing and Sales Date

Sales of the renewed model in Japan will start on October 1.

The price range of the vehicle starts at 6.3 million yen for the basic diesel version. For the flagship GR Sport HEV hybrid version, prices reach up to 10.2 million yen. What do you think about Toyota's new hybrid move?
