Four injured after collision between tram and truck in Dresden

A tram and a truck full of propane gas bottles collided in Dresden. Four people were injured, the fire department said. How serious their injuries were initially remained unclear.

In the accident in the morning, the tram derailed and the truck driver was trapped in his vehicle. He was freed from the truck by the fire department and, like the tram driver, taken to the hospital. Two passengers were also injured and treated by the emergency services. The cause of the accident is still unclear.

Currently no danger from propane gas bottles

According to current knowledge, the large load of propane gas cylinders poses no danger, as the fire department also announced. According to the information, the gas bottles are checked and secured by emergency services. 60 personnel from several fire and rescue stations are currently on duty. This will take some time.

As soon as the accident has been recorded, the vehicles that are wedged together must be separated from each other. The derailed tram then had to be lifted back onto the track bed by the special forces. Bodenbacher Straße in Dresden-Seidnitz will remain completely closed for the duration of the operation.
