The world's highest wind turbine in Brandenburg reaches a height of 365 meters

It is almost as high as the Berlin television tower: the currently tallest wind turbine in the world has reached its final height in Schipkau, Brandenburg. The high-altitude wind tower in Lusatia now rises 365 meters into the sky, as the manufacturer Gicon announced.

For the last few meters, the inner tower was lifted up using a telescopic mechanism. According to Gicon, this required precise technical processes and close coordination of the work involved. After the target height was reached, the inner tower was fixed in its extended position.

The hub height alone is 300 meters. Including the rotor blades, the wind turbine is 365 meters long. This makes the system the tallest wind turbine in the world and at the same time the second tallest structure in Germany.

The developers also associate the high altitude with advantages for the distribution of wind energy. According to innovation manager Martin Chaumet, wind power could be distributed more evenly across Germany. This could partially reduce the need for additional network expansion.

To date, the world's highest series wind turbine has been located in Winnberg in Upper Palatinate, as announced by the manufacturer Vestas and the construction company Max Bögl. It reaches a hub height of 199 meters and a total height of 285 meters.
