Wissenschaftliche Exzellenz: Bayerns zentralistisches Problem

Why It Matters

Da denken wenige an Stuttgart.

Der Freistaat also.

Trump calls on Republicans to conduct midterm elections as an election campaign for his person

Donald Trump is calling on Republicans to conduct the midterm elections as a campaign for his person, even though he is not running himself. Kyle Kondik of the University of Virginia sees rising costs of living and Trump's lost popularity as the main reasons for possible Republican defeats. Some candidates are already distancing themselves from Trump, while a majority of Americans are calling for clear AI rules, which Trump rejects. Kondik expects a loss of the Republican majority in the House of Representatives, remains undecided in the Senate and believes in a fair election despite Trump's previous attempts to influence the election.

Protest against conscription and rearmament at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin

Hundreds of mostly young people demonstrated at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin against a possible reintroduction of conscription and military build-up. The police estimated the number of participants at around 2,000. The protest was organized by the alliance 'Unforcible - no desire for war and conscription'. Among others, Martin Sonneborn from the Diepartei party and musicians appeared on stage. The background is the law on the new military service that has been in force since January, which provides for compulsory military service for young men born in 2008. If the recruitment targets are not met, the Bundestag could decide to reintroduce compulsory military service, which was suspended in 2011.
