Senator Jordon Steele-John is currently facing separate, independent investigations regarding allegations of his conduct toward women between 2017 and 2025.
A 40-year-old woman accused of stalking and attempting to extort Greens senator Jordon Steele-John has been granted bail by a Western Australian court.
The woman appeared at Perth’s magistrates court on Thursday facing charges of aggravated stalking with intent to intimidate and demanding property by written threats, an offence commonly known as extortion.
Magistrate Clare Stanyer instructed the accused to be released on a $5,000 surety and under the condition she was not to come within 100 metres of Steele-John, including his workplace and home. She was ordered to surrender her passport within 48 hours.
Stanyer ordered the woman not be identified.
“There is a protective bail condition not to contact or attempt to contact Jordon Alexander Steele-John by any means or approach within 100 metres of that person or go within 100 metres of where they live or work or are educated,” she said.
“You must surrender any passport in your possession to the WA police station within 48 hours.”
The charges come amid a separate controversy involving allegations about the senator’s conduct towards women between 2017 and 2025.
The senator has denied those allegations, which are being investigated independently by the WA Greens and have also been referred to the independent parliamentary standards commission.
