Yandex cooperates with local institutions to popularize artificial intelligence applications in the Turkish market. Launched in February, Yandex AI reached high adoption rates in a short time.
In his evaluation, Alexander Popovskiy evaluated the place of productive artificial intelligence in the daily life of consumers and the opportunities offered by the Turkish market in this field.
Stating that the prevalence of artificial intelligence technologies in the consumer market is increasing faster than expected, Popovskiy stated that Türkiye is one of the most developed countries in this respect.
Sharing Yandex data, Popovskiy said, "More than 70 percent of Turkish users state that they used artificial intelligence every day in the last week. This is an extremely remarkable rate. For example, this rate is much higher than in Russia, the other market in which we operate." he said.
Popovskiy explained that users initially tried generative artificial intelligence for purposes such as entertainment, creating visuals or animating photos, and over time, they made this technology a part of their daily lives.
Pointing out that Yandex AI users are increasingly using the application to access the internet and search for information, Popovskiy stated that artificial intelligence applications are starting to become an alternative to traditional internet searches and browsers.
Emphasizing that Turkish users do not only use artificial intelligence for complex transactions, Popovskiy said, "We see that Turks use artificial intelligence for their daily needs, such as getting news or getting information about football matches. In fact, they use artificial intelligence to make their experiences easier in all their traditional areas of interest. Turkish users even use artificial intelligence to understand what happened in the last episode of a television series and what may happen in the next episode." he said.
Popovskiy said that they see the greatest potential in the field of consumer artificial intelligence in the telecommunications sector, and this sector is followed by banks and other financial institutions.
Pointing out that companies in these sectors have a wide customer base and digital platforms where they can offer additional services, Popovskiy made the following evaluations regarding the contributions that artificial intelligence can make in improving customer relations:
Customers are open to receiving more services from these companies. I believe telcos, banks, and other financial institutions can benefit not only from better customer support—that is, leveraging AI in front-line customer service—but also from using AI to further strengthen customer relationships. These companies can increase customer loyalty to their ecosystem by offering not only media, television and music, but also access to artificial intelligence and chatbots as part of a holistic service portfolio.
Popovskiy added that they are holding discussions with telecommunication companies and banks in various markets, including Türkiye, regarding the development of white-label artificial intelligence applications.
Yandex Search and Artificial Intelligence General Manager Sedat Öztürk pointed out that new technologies are rapidly adopted in Türkiye and said that the user rate of Yandex AI, which was launched in February, in Türkiye has increased by nearly 75 percent in the last 2-3 months.
Öztürk noted that many operations in telecommunication applications, such as starting or ending a subscription, changing packages, learning tariffs that can be used abroad and accessing billing information, can be made smarter with artificial intelligence integration.
Emphasizing that qualified human resources must be developed in order for Türkiye to become a regional artificial intelligence and data center, Öztürk reminded that they launched Türkiye's first artificial intelligence engineering master's program with Middle East Technical University (METU).
Pointing out the importance of local integrations and local language models in artificial intelligence studies, Öztürk stated that for this purpose, Yandex Türkiye joined forces with TÜBİTAK and started the Turkish major language model study called "Wise".
Stating that they aim to help companies develop their own applications focused on artificial intelligence with the "Yandex AI for Business" solution, Öztürk also said that the existing services of businesses can be integrated into Yandex AI or Yandex technology into companies' own applications.

Calls to slow the pace of artificial intelligence development in the United States have raised concerns among industry leaders and politicians about monopolization and competition with China. While Anthropic CEO's proposal receives support from names such as OpenAI and Tesla, it is criticized by some circles.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei stated that the industry should cooperate with governments and create third-party security assessments to counter the rapid development of artificial intelligence. Amodei argued that despite the technology's risks, its benefits outweighed it.
