90 of 119 suspects caught in illegal betting operations were arrested

The procedures at the police station for 119 suspects who were detained in the operations carried out by the Nevşehir Police Department's Anti-Cyber ​​Crimes Branch within the scope of the work against illegal betting and laundering of illegal revenues have been completed.

While 90 of the suspects who were referred to the courthouse were arrested by the judgeship for the crimes of "illegal betting", "money laundering" and "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime", 19 were released on condition of judicial control and 10 were released.

OPERATION

In the investigation carried out by the Nevşehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that the suspects collected bank account information in exchange for a commission in connection with an entertainment venue in Avanos district and some suspects in Adana, and obtained criminal income from illegal betting, and that they laundered the criminal proceeds through crypto exchanges and jewelers, and that 6 jewelers played a role in laundering the proceeds of crime.

It was determined that there was a transaction volume of approximately 20 billion liras in the accounts of companies and individuals opened by the suspects, and in this context, simultaneous operations were organized in 34 provinces, centered in Nevşehir, on November 3.

During the operations in which 818 police officers and 40 special operations personnel took part, 119 suspects were caught, and during the searches, 6 unlicensed guns, 2 unlicensed rifles, 1 sword, many cartridges, many bank cards and digital materials belonging to different people were seized.

In addition, within the scope of laundering proceeds from crime, 23 movable and 30 immovable properties belonging to 26 suspects and approximately 1 billion lira worth of crime proceeds were confiscated.
