NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel Announced Policy for Political Initiative

NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel brought a new initiative to political life with a broad statement that was published in the press two days ago: He announced the policies that the party will primarily consider and implement if it comes to power.

The language of the statement was simple and the messages were as clear as possible. His style was free from formal language corners. That's why it was worth appreciating. In particular, "the state providing a minimum income to every individual", which would give our Republic a "social state" identity in accordance with the provisions of our constitution, were promises worth taking into consideration.

However, in my opinion, there were serious shortcomings in the statement. For example, one of these shortcomings, and perhaps the biggest one, was that Özgür Özel did not say a single word that would remedy the rottenness of the Turkish judiciary. Likewise, it was an unforgettable point that the current Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, ignored the "reactionary" moves that he made great efforts to implement in primary and secondary education institutions.

One of the shortcomings that I do not want to think that Özel did not mention knowingly and willingly was the issue of "political morality (ethics) law", which was the most complained about, at least during the AKP's rule. Because it is a matter of serious curiosity among the public what Özgür Özel and the NEW Party foresee in this context and how they will eliminate this deficiency. In fact, in my opinion, the "law on political ethics" is such an important and urgent need that the NEW Party, if it comes to power, is expected to address and announce first of all that it will implement, if it comes to power.
