Tuition fee review from YÖK to 23 foundation universities

The Higher Education Supervisory Board initiated an investigation against 23 foundation higher education institutions upon notices and complaints received by the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education that the increase limit determined for the tuition fees of students other than the preparatory and first year students was not complied with.

With the "Procedures and Principles Concerning the Determination of Tuition Fees and Fee Increases for Classes Other than the Preparatory or First Year of Foundation Higher Education Institutions" published based on the Additional Article 9 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, the rules regarding the possible increases in students' tuition fees were determined.

With the decision of the General Assembly of Higher Education dated July 8, it was decided that the tuition fee increase rate for students studying in classes other than the preparatory or first year of foundation higher education institutions would not exceed 25 percent in the 2026-2027 academic year.

AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN STARTED ABOUT 23 FOUNDATION HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

In the recent notifications and complaints received by the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education, it was announced that some foundation higher education institutions did not comply with the determined increase limit. Upon the applications, the Higher Education Supervisory Board initiated an investigation into 23 foundation higher education institutions.

Within the scope of the review, the compliance of the tuition fees determined by these higher education institutions for the 2026-2027 academic year and the fee increases reflected on students with the relevant legislation and the decision of the General Assembly of Higher Education will be evaluated.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the previous statement made by the Council of Higher Education, it was announced that the applications, notices and complaints that reach the Presidency and are considered to have consequences against the student will be examined daily and immediately.
