South Korean female singer and YouTuber allegedly abused her 18-year-old daughter to death. Prosecutors seek the death penalty.

A female singer and YouTuber in her 40s was suspected of long-term abuse of her 18-year-old biological daughter. She not only beat her with a wooden stick, but also poured hot water on her head, causing burns and scalding over large areas of her body, and eventually died. The prosecutor found that the female singer involved in the case committed cruelty and has asked the court for the death penalty. However, she still denies committing the crime and cried bitterly in court: "As a mother, I would not do that kind of thing to my daughter."

According to Korean media reports, the accused female singer was suspected of continuously abusing her 18-year-old daughter who was studying in college since September last year. The prosecutor's investigation revealed that she had long held the idea that "because her daughter would embarrass herself in front of people around her" and then committed violence. Not only did she beat her with a wooden stick multiple times, but she also poured hot water directly on her head, causing second-degree burns on about 27% of her body.

Even though her daughter kept pleading and expressed severe physical pain and difficulty breathing, the defendant female singer failed to send her to the hospital in time. Instead, she left her daughter in the car and ignored her, which ultimately led to her death in extreme pain. The prosecutor denounced that this was an anti-human crime committed against his own daughter. The victim was betrayed by the mother who should be trusted and relied on the most, and the method was extremely cruel.

The prosecutor pointed out that the accused female singer has not sincerely reflected after committing the crime and continues to put forward unacceptable excuses. Considering her violent tendencies and risk of re-offending, she requested the court to impose the death penalty and hope to be permanently isolated from society. However, the accused female singer has always denied the content of the prosecution and maintained her innocence. She cried in court during her final statement and said: "As a mother, I would not do that to my daughter. Please find out the truth."

The defense lawyer argued that although the accused female singer was grieved that her daughter died as a result of not being sent to the hospital in time, she had no intention of killing her daughter. He also questioned that the prosecutors mostly based their charges on the autopsy report and believed that there are still other possibilities that need to be clarified.

It is reported that the accused female singer is well-known in Nanhae County, Gyeongsangnam Province. She is also a singer, YouTuber, local publicity ambassador and TV anchor. She even participated in a fire drill the day before the incident. However, after the incident was exposed, she has been dismissed from the relevant publicity duties. The first-instance verdict of the whole case is expected to be held on October 8.
