Zay Flowers Cleared to Play for Ravens in Rio de Janeiro Despite Hamstring Injury

The Baltimore Ravens are down in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for their Week 3 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. While there is buzz for their international regular-season showdown, there was uncertainty looming over the offense, specifically when it comes to wideout Zay Flowers. However, those concerns have since subsided as the wideout is active for Sunday's contest.

The 2023 first-round pick is dealing with a hamstring injury he suffered in the Week 1 win over the Indianapolis Colts, which forced him to miss Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints. Flowers did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, but did participate in a limited capacity on Friday. The team initially listed him as questionable for the contest before clearing him to go for Week 3.

Earlier on Sunday, Flowers tested that hamstring with a pregame workout on the field at Maracanã Stadium, and CBS Sports' Tracy Wolfson reported that he felt good. He even added that he's preparing for a touchdown with a Samba celebration, which was an early indication that he'd play.

With Flowers active, it is worthy noting ESPN's report from Saturday that Flowers would likely be on a pitch count for the contest if he ended up playing. So, even with him suiting up, his level of participation is still worth monitoring throughout the contest.

Before exiting the season opener against Indy, Flowers was going nuclear in first-year offensive coordinator Declan Doyle's system. He caught five of his six targets from Lamar Jackson for 150 yards and a touchdown. Those 150 yards receiving set a new career high for the 26-year-old.
