MOSCOW, September 27 – RIA Novosti. The suspect in the murder of a tourist from the Orenburg region in Abkhazia, Edgar Abukhba, has already been convicted of attacking a girl from Russia, writes SHOT.

“In 2019, he brutally beat a Russian tourist and raped her in an abandoned building in Sukhum. <…> He also stole two phones from her, their accessories, jewelry and money totaling 70,100 rubles, after which he fled the scene of the crime,” the publication says.

According to media reports, the man was then sentenced to nine years in prison in a maximum security colony and a fine of 1.1 million rubles. At the time of the crime, Abukhba was a minor, but he turned 18 during the trial. As a result, he was released after 4.5 years.

Earlier on Sunday, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Abkhazia reported that 26-year-old tourist from the Orenburg region Amina Bikbova, who disappeared from the territory of the republic, was found murdered. The suspect was detained - Abukhba Edgar Garevich, a resident of the city of Gudauta. According to his testimony, he strangled the girl in a rented apartment, and took the body to the Bzyb Gorge area.
