Two girls, aged seven and nine, were revived after drowning in Lagoa Várzea das Flores, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, on Sunday afternoon (27). Until the last update of this report, they were admitted to the Betim Regional Hospital.

According to the Fire Department, the children disappeared for a few moments, which led to the suspicion that they were submerged. Bathers who were at the scene began searching and managed to find the two unconscious girls.

When rescue teams arrived at the scene, the victims were unconscious. Military personnel from the Fire Department and rescuers from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers.

After first aid, the two children, who are not related, were stabilized and had their circulation restored, but remained unconscious.

"Both were taken with a stabilized pulse, but in an unconscious state (unconscious). There was no spontaneous return of consciousness until they were admitted to the referral hospital," stated the Fire Department.

The nine-year-old girl was taken to Betim Regional Hospital by a Samu ambulance. The seven-year-old girl was transported by a Fire Department rescue vehicle with a doctor on board.
