“Deeply disturbed” – Meghan shocked by allegations against her father

Meghan Markle, wife of Britain's Prince Harry, has reacted shocked to child pornography allegations against her father. In a statement released on Friday, the 46-year-old former US actress said she was "deeply disturbed" by the allegations, which had previously been reported by British media.

She had previously stopped her father Thomas Markle's contact with her children because of the "disturbing" allegations.

British media had previously reported that images of child abuse had been found in the 82-year-old's possession. His daughter Meghan now admitted in her statement that she had seen a letter to the Metropolitan Police in London in 2018 that contained such allegations. She was promised at the time that the matter would be investigated.

According to her own statements, Meghan distanced herself from her father in order to protect her children. In doing so, she also opposed previous media reports that had linked her estrangement from her father to her new role as a member of the British royal family.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Thomas Markle clearly rejected the allegations and described them as “sick lies”.

Markle, a retired lighting director and cinematographer, most recently lived in the Philippines. At the beginning of the year he suffered a stroke, as a result of which his left leg was amputated. He then had to return to the USA. He is said to have left behind large amounts of child pornographic material in his previous home in the Philippines.

Prince Harry and Meghan unexpectedly returned to Great Britain from the USA at the end of August after a six-year absence with their two children Archie and Lilibet. The couple withdrew from their royal duties at the beginning of 2020 following a rift with the royal family.

The family had lived in Meghan's hometown of California for the past few years. Daughter Lilibet was born there in 2021. Son Archie was born in Great Britain in 2019. Meghan's father did not attend the couple's wedding in May 2018, citing previous heart surgery as the reason.
