이어 "저를 믿고 함께해준 시민 여러분과 선거운동원, 자원봉사자, 캠프 관계자, 당원 동지 여러분의 기대를 보답하지 못해 송구하다"고 덧붙였다.
그러면서 "함께 경쟁한 후보들에게 감사하고, 당선된 오세훈 후보에게 축하의 말을 전한다"며 "그동안 보내준 따뜻한 마음, 거리에서 잡아준 손을 끝까지 잊지 않겠다"고 말했다.
중앙선거관리위원회에 따르면 이날 오전 9시 40분 서울시장 선거 개표율 97.70% 기준으로 국민의힘 오세훈 후보는 48.94%, 정 후보는 48.34%를 기록했다.
