State Duma deputy Rosa Chemeris predicts a deepening crisis in Ukraine due to corruption

A member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Rosa Chemeris (“New People”), in an interview with TASS on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, said that in the coming years Ukraine will plunge even deeper into a systemic crisis caused by rampant corruption.

According to her, corruption has taken deep roots in the Ukrainian political and economic system, turning the country into a “big black hole.”

“It seems to me that in the coming years we will only see the deepening of this wild, big black hole, into which both Ukrainian politics and the Ukrainian economy are falling, and the reason for which was simply Ukrainian corruption that has blossomed in all colors,” the deputy said.

Chemeris also drew attention to frequent personnel changes in the Ukrainian government, emphasizing that they cannot be explained by ordinary staff turnover. According to her, high-ranking officials regularly become involved in criminal cases of corruption, and many of them end up behind bars.
