Religious group trains disaster prevention workers to approach 10,000 people

The Ministry of the Interior stated today (26th) that in order to implement the concept of "whole-of-society defense resilience", it will continue to deepen public-private collaboration and promote disaster prevention awareness to take root. The Ministry of the Interior works hand in hand with religious groups to conduct disaster prevention training, and encourages Buddhist, Taoist, Christian, Yiguandao and other religious groups to jointly invest in disaster prevention training. Currently, nearly 10,000 religious groups have obtained disaster prevention qualifications, gradually bringing disaster prevention knowledge and skills into local communities, and strengthening the resilience of grassroots disaster prevention.

The Ministry of the Interior stated that they include Guangxiu Zen Temple, Zhanzhi Temple, Yiguandao Chongzheng Foundation, Taiwan Soka Gakkai Foundation, Buddha's Light Association International Chinese Association, Taiwan Federation of Taoist Sects, Taiwan Presbyterian Church, Religious groups such as Taipei City Menga Longshan Temple and Zhongli Renhai Temple have conducted a total of 14 disaster prevention training sessions. Tzu Chi Foundation has more than 8,000 volunteers and employees who have obtained disaster prevention qualifications, accumulating a wealth of private disaster prevention energy. By the end of this year, the China General Association of Buddha's Light Association International and the Taiwan Presbyterian Church Mission Foundation are expected to conduct 11 more disaster prevention training sessions. The Taiwan Buddhist Federation will also conduct the first special disaster prevention training class for monks in November.
